Messy Meatball Sliders
1 lb. ground beef
¾-1 cup bread crumbs
2 t. Italian seasoning
2 t. minced garlic
2 T. Parmesan cheese
¼ cup milk
1 egg, beaten
10-12 dinner rolls
2 T. butter, melted
1 t. garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 (14- ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
American cheese slices
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix by hand the ground beef, ¾ cup bread crumbs, adding more if needed, Italian seasoning, garlic, Parmesan cheese, milk and egg. Shape into 10- 12 meatballs, and place in a greased baking dish.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes; until cooked through. While meatballs cook, brush inside of dinner rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Slip rolls in the oven during the last 3-5 minutes of meatballs’ cooking time to toast bread. Heat the spaghetti sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove cooked meatballs from oven and slide meatballs into sauce; spooning sauce over each meatball to cover. Place half a slice of American cheese on the inside of the toasted dinner roll and slide a meatball with sauce on top of cheese. Serve with the remaining sauce.
