Creamy, Dreamy Shrimp Pasta
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs. medium fresh shrimp, peeled and de-veined
1 stick butter
4 slices bacon
1 cup onion, minced
¼ cup flour
½ t. salt
½ t. pepper
¼ t. crushed red pepper flakes
½ cup tomato sauce
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 (8-ounce) package penne pasta
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
Cook pasta in boiling, salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside to keep warm. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add bacon and onion and cook until bacon is crisp. Remove bacon and onion and place on paper towel to drain. Add flour, salt and pepper to butter. Stir together, forming a roux. When butter has been fully incorporated into the flour, slowly add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes, stirring well. Cook until bubbly, then pour in cream and allow sauce to thicken. Stir shrimp into sauce and cook 3-5 minutes until pink. Add bacon and onion back into skillet. Toss in cooked pasta and shredded cheese; mixing to fully coat noodles and melt cheese.
