Hawaiian Pie

Ingredients:
1 (9-inch) pie crust
1/3 cup sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1 (8 ¼ ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
½ t. salt
2 eggs
½ cup milk
½ t. vanilla
¼ cup pecans, chopped
Maraschino cherry halves, pecan halves & cool whip for garnish

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and pineapple; cook over medium heat until clear and thickened. Cool, then spread onto bottom of pie crust. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar and salt until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix in milk and vanilla. Pour this over pineapple mix; sprinkle with chopped pecans. Bake 35-40 minutes. Allow to cool. Garnish with cool whip, maraschino cherry halves and pecan halves if desired.
